Make Your Mark

THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE

As the debt crisis spirals, we believe that God has positioned CAP for ‘such a time as this.’ After 13 years of development, we are now strategically placed to make a real difference through the local church during this financial crisis.

Since the beginning of this year, we have seen the number of calls for help double. We have a massive waiting list of churches wanting to open CAP Centres; 43 churches want to open a centre in October alone.

The crisis is happening now. Now is the time. Operationally, we have everything in place to respond and help thousands more people who are drowning in debt. We can’t ask churches to wait for up to 18 months to open their CAP Centre. We feel we have to give it our all now.

So, before God, we have made the decision to double the number of centres we were planning to open. We are going to open 60 new centres over the next twelve months.

Raising £750,000

The ultimate challenge financially is to raise £750,000 in gifts and pledges by 31 December 2009. Thank you to all those who have pledged so far! We have taken this huge step of faith with confidence that God will be with us and provide everything we need to make this possible.

60 new centres will mean a 60% increase in the number of areas where we can start helping people who desperately need our service today. An additional 3,500 families will be helped out of debt and poverty, churches will be empowered to reach their communities and people will come to know Jesus Christ.

John Kikby

Running 3 marathons in 30 hours

Opening this many centres and raising this much money is an extraordinary challenge and one that requires an extraordinary effort and sacrifice...

On 4-5 September 2009, John Kirkby undertook the Ultimate Challenge of his lifetime. He ran 84 miles in just 30 hours, from Windermere to Ilkley along the Dales Way. This was three marathons back-to-back over a gradient of 8000 vertical feet, equivalent to climbing Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike in one go!
