Annual report 2020
How your donation is used
Here's a break down of how we used each pound donated in 2020.
- Charitable activities like our frontline services
- Vital support costs so we can keep the organisation up and running for anyone who needs our help
- Raising funds so we can continue to see people set free from poverty
- Less than 1p on other costs
Our pandemic response
When lockdown first began, we knew we had to do all we could to continue supporting people across the UK with practical help and powerful hope. Within just a few days, we managed to switch our entire operation to remote working and we ran our service through video and phone calls for the rest of the year.
As well as setting up an additional client phone line to support anyone who was struggling, we launched an emergency appeal to bring emergency aid to those who needed it. This took the form of food deliveries, fuel vouchers and mobile phone top ups so that people self-isolating could maintain vital contact with the outside world. Our amazing supporters saw the need and responded from the heart, which meant we were able to deliver emergency aid to 1,479 families.
When I was in debt, I’d sit up all night, scared to go to sleep as I didn’t know what tomorrow would bring. I sometimes thought about doing away with myself as I couldn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. Now my mental health is improving, because I don’t need to constantly worry about the debt. I’m sleeping better at night. It’s helping me to open up and socialise more after shutting everyone out for so long.
My journey with CAP has been phenomenal. It’s given me a whole new lease of life.
