Wounded soldier to complete sponsored swim for CAP

Corporal Phill Taber of the Royal Engineers received gunshot wounds to both legs in 2010 whilst serving in Afghanistan. Since then he has had to over come numerous operations and undertaken hours of rehabilitation, to regain the reasonable use of his legs. When Phill contacted us to share his plans to raise money for CAP, we were inspired by his determination.

'This year, after being inspired by the valuable work carried out by CAP, I am going to try and swim a mile in the Great North Swim. I will only be using my arms when in the water due to my injuries, making this an even bigger challenge.' – Phill

If you would like to sponsor Phill, visit his JustGiving page.

What could you do this year to join Phill and raise money for CAP? Choose your challenge now.

CAP Job Clubs launched in Westminster

Today was a very significant day in the life of Christians Against Poverty as we launched a brand new initiative to help unemployed people.

CAP Job Clubs will be something else the church can do to help people tackle poverty - and when we tell you almost a third of our debt clients are jobless, you can see that this is an issue close to our hearts.

So today, in front of a crowd of finance industry professionals and MPs at Westminster, we explained (with the help of two fantastic clients - pictured, left) the kind of poverty that's out there - and what the church is doing to tackle it.

New look for CAP

CAP is today launching a brand-new look aimed at bringing clarity to our expanding ministries.

The new green CAP logo has been designed to communicate the friendly but professional service that has saved the lives of thousands of clients – as well as ensure a good reputation with both the finance industry and our supporters.

It is the first new look for the organisation in six years and has been timed to show the wide variety of ways we are now working, through the local church, to tackle poverty on their doorstep.

Not only do we work with the church to offer the debt counselling we are best known for, we now help around 10,000 people to learn money management skills through the CAP Money Course. And, in March, CAP is set to launch CAP Job Clubs – a brand-new service to help unemployed people.
