Mid Year Impact Report

As we pass the midway point of 2019, it’s time to take a moment to look again at everything that’s happened in the first half of this year.

It’s shaping up to be another huge year for new clients. We’ve seen 4,575 first visits, where a Debt Coach goes round to the home of someone who’s overwhelmed by debt. It’s our privilege to offer hope and practical help to those who need it, and knowing that we’re making a difference makes us smile from ear to ear. Just this week, a client phoned our head office and said, ‘Bless you all, you’re my heroes’. What an endorsement!

From first steps to final celebrations, at the other end of the Debt Help journey, we’ve seen an incredible 1,140 people become debt free. We’re so happy for each individual and family reflected in this number, and we know how much it means to them to be able to look ahead to the future now.

'It feels like we’re back to normality, now I’m debt free. I recommend CAP to anybody, really I can’t rate them highly enough.' - Chris, CAP client

While Debt Help is what we’re best known for, our other services have been busy too. Fresh Start groups help people break free from life-controlling habits such as drinking or smoking. Members set themselves goals (helped by their coach) along the way, and our groups have celebrated 60 goals being hit.

Faith underpins all that we do at Christians Against Poverty: from offering to pray for our clients to our partner churches rallying volunteers to provide practical and emotional support. So far this year, 408 people have responded to the good news, which we think is wonderful.

All this is made possible by an incredible team, from partner churches and dedicated volunteers, trained caseworkers and caring frontline staff, and our amazing supporters, including the 30,000 Life Changers who give regularly to keep the work of CAP going. Together, we are making a real difference to thousands of lives across this country.
