Client report

You may be familiar with what problem debt means from the facts and figures, but do you know how it feels?

Home is meant to be a warm, comforting, safe place that provides refuge and shelter from the outside world. A place where families unite, meals are enjoyed and sleep is undisturbed. Yet, for our clients it has become a place without food in the cupboard, without heating, hot water or working household essentials. It is a place of sleepless nights and disturbed days, with incessant phone calls, letters and enforcement agents at the door. Problem debt touches every area of life. Home becomes a place of isolation, turbulence and insecurity.

Christians Against Poverty’s latest Client report reveals how debt is more than a maths problem. When we visit someone in their home, we come face-to-face with real people and the real lives that lie behind these numbers. CAP’s services meet people where they are. In the midst of their situation, we visit in the home to offer non-judgmental, holistic debt help and always hope. CAP’s 624 frontline services in local communities helped 16,641 people in 2017. Each of these services offer free, non-judgemental professional help and, most importantly, community. Download the report to read more about how CAP’s help is not only improving financial situations, but bringing hope and restoring desolate homes.

This report is an invitation for you to look behind these closed doors. To see the unbelievable reality of debt and UK poverty. The lives left desolate. Real people robbed of hope, neglected and forgotten.
