Help to Save

The government is introducing a new scheme to help low income households to save for rainy days. We support any action to enable and encourage people to save. Targeted at those on low incomes, Help to Save is a welcome initiative to help plug the gap in the current savings incentivising schemes that predominately benefit those on higher incomes. HM Treasury are consulting on how this scheme will be implemented and we have provided a response to help shape this scheme so it works effectively.  However, it is important to acknowledge that a significant proportion of low income households will be ineligible for Help to Save.
