CAP and Ground Level

Leader of the Ground Level Network

'I love it when an organisation believes in the local church... I highly recommend CAP and all that they are involved in.'

Our CAP Story

Joy Blundell — Alive Lincoln

Partnering with CAP has really changed our church. We weren’t really doing anything to reach out into the community so we set up a charity to house different projects, and CAP was the first to go into that.

CAP was our first experience of working alongside people whose lives are quite chaotic. We’ve learnt a lot and developed other things to support people more holistically. For example, a lady came to us through Foodbank, who was homeless. We gave her a mentor, provided debt help and also helped her to find a flat. She started going to our women’s befriending, and has since become Christian and been baptised. Now she is serving and doing all sorts of things in church; she’s such a changed person! We have quite a few of these stories.

I was aware of the poverty in our city but the difference is that I have got to know people personally rather than as service users. Now they’re friends; they’re part of the family. Some of the most powerful moments are when I’ve been on visits as a support worker making friends with people never I’d have never normally have met.

CAP gives us the tools and professionalism to bring a service to the community, which is desperately needed. Our vision is to see people in church equipped and empowered. CAP’s been a massive contributor to that. What I love most about CAP is their genuine heart for people and seeing lives changed – it’s not just about doing a job.

Get involved as their vision and passion is crucial!
