At CAP, we’re meeting more and more people in desperate need of hope and a way out of financial difficulty. As our committed supporters, we know your hearts are going to be filled with hurt right now, and that you may feel disheartened and helpless in the face of such despair. At times like these, it’s more important than ever to pause, lift our gaze to Heaven and remember who’s in control.

Our God is a God of miracles. He’s the same God who calmed the storm and parted the seas. The same God who formed the universe with his hand and breathed life into every living thing. His power is unfathomable, far beyond the human brain’s capacity to comprehend. Thankfully, we don’t need to understand. We just need to believe that the same God who raised Christ from the grave is still at work today in the UK and in each of us.

There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything.

Matthew 19:26 (CEV)

Take a moment to think about the miracles he has performed in your own life. For me, my mind goes straight to the middle of the night some years ago, when I woke up and felt God say to me, Take your quilt and go and sleep downstairs’. I immediately dismissed this as my own silliness and tried to return to sleep. I couldn’t and the voice repeated the instruction.

In the end, I picked up my quilt and went to lie on the sofa instead. I awoke the next morning feeling silly again and dragged my quilt up the stairs back to my bedroom. To my astonishment, I found that the ceiling above my bed had fallen through!

That night, I had to trust that the God of miracles was telling me to move and act on it. It’s the same with how we choose to respond to the challenges we’re facing in society now. We have to trust that God is telling us to move and act on it.

To see what’s possible when we act, take a look at the stories we’ve curated for the latest edition of Lifted magazine online.
