Christians Against Poverty (CAP) has announced the appointment of David Nussbaum as their new Chair of Trustees

CAP’s Chief Executive Officer, Stewart McCulloch, said:

We are absolutely delighted that David is joining us as our new Chair of Trustees. He brings with him a wealth of experience, embodying a deep commitment to service and justice that aligns totally with CAP’s mission.

David’s impressive career spans both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors, reflecting a life dedicated to impactful leadership. He has served in Chief Financial Officer positions, including for Oxfam, demonstrating his financial acumen and compassionate heart.

His leadership continued as CEO of Transparency International, WWF-UK, and The Elders,’ a remarkable charity founded by Nelson Mandela. Through these roles, David has consistently championed integrity, sustainability, and global leadership for peace and human rights – principles that resonate strongly with our Christian call to care for the vulnerable and seek justice.

A man of faith and family, David, along with his wife, has raised four adult children and has been an active member of their local church for over thirty years. This long-standing dedication to his faith community underscores his understanding of Christian principles of stewardship, compassion, and neighborly love, which are at the very heart of CAP’s work in freeing people from poverty.

We are incredibly excited for David to lead our Board of Trustees as we continue to uphold our core values and expand our reach, bringing hope and practical support to those struggling with debt and poverty. Please join us in warmly welcoming David to the CAP family. You’ll have the opportunity to hear more from David around our next trustee meeting on 10 November.”

David Nussbaum takes up the position from previous Chair, Roger Hattam, who served nearly ten years on CAP’s Board. Stewart McCulloch added:

After nearly a decade of dedicated service on CAP’s Board, current Chair Roger Hattam is stepping down and the charity is welcoming their new Chair, David Nussbaum.

As Roger Hattam concludes nearly a decade of dedicated service on CAP’s Board, our new Chair is being welcomed to lead Christians Against Poverty forward, guided by faith and a steadfast commitment to our mission.”
