Christians Against Poverty (CAP) supports the Welsh Government’s proposals to make Council Tax collection fairer by:

  • Issuing at least one reminder notice for each missed Council Tax instalment.
  • Making sure that a final notice for a missed instalment should only be issued 41 days after the missed payment and at least 14 days after the last reminder.
  • Extending the annual balance liability to 62 days, including 21 days after a final notice.
  • Allowing councils to apply for a liability order a minimum of 63 days after the first missed instalment.
