
21% of UK adults report having a deficit budget. It is a real concern for society and the economy for one in every five UK adults to not have sufficient income to cover the costs of essentials. But the story becomes even more problematic when you dig behind the statistics and see the revealing story of some groups in society being at higher risk of financial difficulty than others. Despite age, gender and ethnicity being protected characteristics, the current reality is that these categories still play a significant role in someone’s risk of being pulled into debt and poverty.
