New Year prayers and blessings for 2026

God, as this year draws to an end, I look to you for guidance and rest. Thank you for getting me through this year and being with me through the difficult and stressful times, as well as the happiest ones. Help me to let go of what I can’t change and find rest in you before the year ends. Amen.

Loving God, as this new year begins, I pray that you’ll be with me. I don’t know what lies ahead, but I know that your Son who brought light into the world can guide my steps. I pray that you’ll bless my family and friends, being with them in their difficult times and the happy moments this year. Remind them that they can look to you for guidance and strength. Amen. 

God, thank you for this meal that we can share together and for each person sitting around this table. As the new year begins, help us to be grateful for what we have and be mindful of each other. Be with all of us in the next year ahead so we would know your love. Amen.

God, we’re grateful for this night, for laughter, conversation and good company. Help us to enjoy our time together and create new memories that we can cherish. Amen.

May God be with you as this new year begins. May you have strength for each day, wisdom for the decisions you face and get support when you need it. May you know God’s love in the ordinary moments, and his presence in the difficult ones. Amen.

God, thank you for this new year. I pray that you’ll be with me in the next year ahead and bless my family and friends. Amen.

Lord, as the new year begins, we place our family in your care. I pray that you’ll be present in our conversations, decisions, thoughts and actions. Help us to support each other, especially when things may get difficult. Please guide us through this year ahead. Amen.

Lord, I pray for the local CAP workers across the country who are serving you by selflessly helping others to become debt free. I thank you for each one of them, as they show your love in action by being beacons of light in their communities. I pray that this year, you would encourage them and remind them of their amazing work, giving them a renewed energy to continue your work on earth. Amen.

Father, you know the reality of debt and poverty in the UK and wider world. You know the millions of people who are struggling to turn their heating on and feed their families this winter. Loving God, comfort those who are struggling financially right now. Connect with them to support, whether that be debt help or support from their local church, so that they would know your love. I pray that you’ll put things in place so that they can enter this year in a place not of worry or stress, but the comfort of you with them. Amen.

God, you know everything about me and each thought that goes through my mind. This year has been difficult. Help me feel your presence so that I can draw close to you. I pray that in this new year, you’ll fill me with a sense of hope so that I can get my spark back and live life to the full again. Amen.

Loving God, thank you that you are with us in the good times and the difficult times. I pray that this year, you’ll guide my steps so that whatever I go through, I can look to you for support. I ask that your Holy Spirit will stay with me through each day and life event this year. Amen.
