Reflections for the fifth week of Lent, 31 March–6 April

Reflect on the passage

When Moses returns from Mount Sinai, something is different about him – the passage says, His face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord’. The deep impact of spending time in close proximity with God was so apparent that it couldn’t be contained. Everybody could see that something extraordinary had happened to him.

Albeit in a less physical way, we also glow with the presence of God in our own world today. Knowing him impacts us deeply and profoundly, to the point that those around us can see that something is different. Whether we choose to be proud and unashamed of our faith or hide this light away is up to us.

Pray for those bringing hope

Pray for debt coaches and volunteers in churches across the UK as they meet with people facing darkness and despair. Pray that they would glow with the presence of God, so that others would find out where their joy, hope and compassion comes from.

Act

Take action by sharing the good news of the gospel with someone today, proudly and unashamedly. Ask God to grant you wisdom in how to approach this with sensitivity and grace.

Pray to speak boldly

Pray for more opportunities to talk about your faith and share about the impact that God has had in your life. This may be an increase in curiosity from those around you, or a new contact who is eager to hear more.

Listen

Listen to the song Way Maker (Sinach, Leeland etc.), and reflect on the following lyrics: You are way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness / My God, that is who you are’.

A prayer for this week

Gracious God, we pray today that, like Moses, we would proudly shine with your presence, making known to all around us that something about us is different – and that something is you, the one who has saved us and made us whole. Amen.
