My name is Nikki, and last year I became debt free. I’ve been made whole again – and now I’m living life to the full.
And it’s because of you! You helped me get the support I needed by giving faithfully to Christians Against Poverty.
Watch Nikki’s message of thanks
Thank you for your help. Without your donation to CAP, people like me who need extra support would still be struggling.
Your donation means I was able to get the help I needed. I now view my life the way the Japanese view broken pottery. They get the pieces and they put that together and they highlight the cracks with gold, viewing the damage as beautiful and adding character.
Again, thank you so much for your support and for restoring my faith in human kindness.

Nikki’s story
For a long time, my life was in bits. You restored me.
My name is Nikki, and last year I became debt free. I’ve been made whole again – and now I’m living life to the full.
And it’s because of you! You helped me get the support I needed by giving faithfully to Christians Against Poverty. Today I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and to share my story.
Feeling broken
Broken. That’s how I felt. I’d left an abusive partner, and suddenly there wasn’t enough money to pay the bills. I started using food banks, and I got behind on Council Tax payments.
I tried to sort things out, I really did. I’m deaf, so I can’t just phone a debt agency and ask for help. I tried emailing, but messages went unanswered. It leaves you so isolated.
But one day, I went to church and someone there told me about the local debt centre, run together with CAP. They phoned the free CAP helpline for me, and relayed the conversation so I could lip-read.
At that moment, your compassion broke into my life – and hope arrived.
Restored with gold
Did you know there’s a Japanese art form where people repair broken pottery by mending the cracks with gold? That’s what you did for me…
You brought my broken pieces back together. Every face-to-face meeting with my debt coach helped me sort out my finances. The kindness of my local church restored me.
Then on Christmas Eve last year, I got the news I never expected: you are debt free. I couldn’t believe it.
Honestly, I can’t thank you enough. If I was with you now, I’d give you a big hug. You saved my life.
