Christians Against Poverty’s Chief Executive Officer, Stewart McCulloch, said: “Christians Against Poverty (CAP) joins in congratulating the Church of England and the wider Anglican Communion on the appointment of a new Archbishop of Canterbury, the Right Reverend, the Bishop of London, Sarah Mullally.
“We join with Christians across the nation in praying for God’s rich blessing, wisdom, and guidance upon the new Archbishop as she prepares to take on this significant leadership role within the Church of England and beyond.
“I recall with gratitude the support that the Archbishop gave, when as the Bishop of London she helped us mark our annual Christians Against Poverty ‘CAP Sunday’ event at St Paul’s Cathedral a few years ago. Her wise words on poverty, and how Jesus’ life had been shaped among some of those most excluded from society, showed compassion and a great understanding of the issue of poverty.
“We look forward to Archbishop Sarah’s ministry and her contribution to the national conversation on issues of justice, compassion, and the well-being of the most vulnerable in our society. We offer our sincere prayers for her and the Church of England during this time of transition, and for the fruitful ministry that lies ahead.”
