If you’ve not yet signed up to fundraise

That’s completely okay! We’re here to help. Fundraising doesn’t have to be complicated. You could choose a pre-organised event such as a mud run or half marathon or make a challenge or initiative of your own.

You can find a list of our marathons here. If you’re looking for other events such as a 5k, 10k or half marathon, find those events here.

Yes! Young fundraisers are very welcome. Anyone under 18 should have a parent or guardian involved to help organise and manage the fundraising safely.

Of course! We’re delighted that you’d love to raise money for CAP! If you’ve already signed up to an event, please fill out this form and we’ll send you your free fundraising resources.

Yes, you’re welcome to use the CAP logo when promoting your fundraising, please just be sure to follow our brand guidelines.

You can download the logo and find our brand guidelines here.

We would recommend collecting your gifts via Just Giving or similar donation platform.

However if you’d prefer to collect cash then we do have a downloadable sponsorship form to help you collect your donations for your sponsored event. Once completed, you can return your form along with any cash or cheque donations using the address provided on the form.

Setting up a fundraising page is quick and easy. Our guide will walk you through everything, from creating your page on JustGiving or social media.

Some events you register for have a minimum target, which will be clearly stated when you sign up. For other events, there’s no set target – you can raise what feels right. A coffee morning could bring in £100, while a challenge like a marathon could raise £2,000 or more.

Whatever you raise, it makes a real difference, and every penny counts. Your efforts are amazing and we’re so grateful for your support!

If you’re still unsure and want a specific target to aim for, here are some suggested amounts which show the impact your fundraising could make:

  • £50 could answer 25 calls to our helpline, bringing hope and support to those in financial crisis
  • £200 could make ten face-to-face debt coach appointments available to support families in unmanageable debt
  • £440 could support a family from their first call, to becoming debt free through a repayment plan
  • £2,200 could support five families from their first call, to becoming debt free through a repayment plan

Start by sharing your event with friends, family and colleagues – word of mouth is powerful! Post on social media, talk about it in everyday conversations and remind people to get it in their diary (life gets busy!). One of our fundraisers even wore his giving page QR code stuck to his back to his Sunday church service, which helped start conversations and initiate gifts.

You can also download promotional posters and other resources to help spread the word.

Whether it’s an injury or something unexpected has come up, that’s okay. Life gets in the way sometimes. Please just get in touch with our friendly team to let us know. If there is anything they can do to support you then please ask. Call 01274 760761 or email [email protected]

If you’ve already completed your fundraising event

If you would like to send in your sponsorship money by cheque, please send the cheque payable to Christians Against Poverty UK, along with any sponsorship forms to: Supporter Care, Christians Against Poverty, Jubilee House, 1 Filey Street, Bradford, BD1 5LQ.

You can also send in cash alongside your sponsorship form (if you’ve used one) to the address above. If you would prefer to pay over the phone as a card payment, just give our friendly Supporter Care team a call on 01274 760761.

You don’t need to get in touch if you’ve used a giving platform such as JustGiving to raise funds for CAP.

If you’re fundraising through Just Giving or another giving platform, Gift Aid is collected automatically when the donor has indicated that we can claim gift aid. This is the easiest way to ensure that we can claim gift aid on eligible donations.

If you’re using a sponsorship form, donors can tick the Gift Aid box and provide their details so we can claim Gift Aid on their donation.

For any other donations (like lump sum donations over the phone) Gift Aid can only be claimed where we have the donor’s details and consent — the best way to do this is to ask them to fill out a line on your sponsorship form (provided with our resources). If you’re unsure, our Supporter Care team will be happy to help. You can contact them on 01274 760761 or email [email protected].

The money you’ve raised will help people break free from debt and poverty, bringing hope and practical support where it’s needed the most. Your fundraising will go where the need is greatest, helping transform lives across the UK.
