Pray with us

'I was hungry and you gave me something to eat... Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

Our work is founded on prayer; as a charity we have time set aside in our working day for it and we acknowledge that we can do no worthy thing without God on board.

We would love you to join us in prayer – this page will be regularly updated with situations that need prayer. You can also receive our quarterly prayer diary though the post or receive weekly text alerts with a client's prayer need.

Thank you for supporting our work and vision through your prayers and faithfulness.

CAP Life Changer dinner

calendar27 February 2017

This Friday (3 March) will see the second Life Changer dinner happening in Bradford - and it's looking like it's going to be something really quite special. With over 400 guests booked in, we're excited to share the story of CAP, our vision and our passion for seeing poverty beaten across the UK.

How amazing would it be if every person who attends either starts or increases their regular giving? It may sound like an audacious ask, but we're sure that nothing is audacious when it comes to God! After all, every new Life Changer means more CAP services can open, more people in need can be reached, and more lives can ultimately be transformed.

Would you please join us in praying for God's blessing over this event? Thank you!

Prayer week requests - CAP services growth

calendar26 January 2017

In 2016, CAP opened 180 new services! That includes 41 debt centres, 51 job clubs, 41 release groups and 47 life skills. It brought our total number of services at the end of 2016 to 605 - well on the way to our target of 1,000 by 2021!

Of course, this target can only be achieved with God's faithful provision and it's vital we keep the matter in our prayers. This prayer week, and beyond, please join us in praying for our centre growth; for new services to open and new frontline staff to be inspired to train and join our team, ultimately expanding our coverage of the country to reach more and more people in need.

Thank you.

Prayer week requests - CAP clients and frontline staff

calendar24 January 2017

As always, there's lots of pray about at CAP, and as it's prayer week, it's a perfect opportunity to set aside time to connect with God and press into him with the things that are close to our hearts.

Here are a few prayer requests (names have been hidden for confidentiality reasons) - we'd be so grateful if you would join us in praying for them this week.

  1. One of our debt clients, S, has made a mistake with his holidays at work and is frightened he's going to lose his job. Please pray for peace, for the worry to loosen its grip on him, and of course for protection over S's job.
  2. When P's CAP Debt Coach went to visit her at home for the first time, she was still in her PJs and admitted to going back to bed a lot during the day as she can't face life. P is depressed, lonely and fearful, and has a long way to go with her paperwork. Please pray for Jesus to break into her despair.
  3. After M's first CAP visit, he was admitted to hospital with kidney failure and a possible diagnosis of lupus. On top of all this, he's very distressed about his debt. Please pray for healing, physically, mentally and spiritually, and that CAP can continue to help him get on top of his debts.
  4. One of our Debt Centre Managers, C, has seen her son J admitted to hospital three times since the beginning of the year. He is off his food, dehydrated and suffered a sudden allergic reaction this week. Please pray for a speedy recovery for J, and for C as she juggles work and childcare.

A week of prayer

calendar20 January 2017

Next week sees the return of our annual prayer week. CAP staff at head office and frontline workers from around the country will be taking time out to speak to God, reflect, and pray for the year ahead. At head office there's going to be lots going on, including an ongoing livestream to allow head office staff to connect and pray with frontline workers who live far away, and even an overnight prayer-a-thon on Thursday night! We'll be praying for our clients, our supporters, our needs as an organisation and the wider community, and of course we'll be making sure we thank God for his stunning faithfulness over the past year(s).

However you're involved with CAP, whether as a staff member, partner church, client or supporter, we'd love you to get involved in prayer week too. We'll be updating this page throughout the week with prayer requests - all you need to do is find some time to pray and connect with God.

It's going to be an incredible, faith-filled, faith-fuelled week which will no doubt have a huge impact.

Thank you in advance for your prayers.

Songs of Praise

calendar06 January 2017

On Sunday (8 January) CAP is featured on Songs of Praise, airing at 1:15pm on BBC One. This is of course a rare opportunity to reach lots and lots of people who may be in need of our help, and also those who are in a position to partner with us and continue to expand our coverage of the UK. Please join us in asking God to really stir the hearts of those watching the episode; to show them why our work tackling UK poverty is so vital.

Let's also pray for Naomi, Perry and their family as they watch their incredible story being broadcast to the nation!

Thank you!
