A-Z of fundraising


Anniversary Gifts. Ask friends and family who would normally buy you a present for your anniversary or birthday to donate to CAP in your name this year instead.


Bake. Invite friends to a mouth-watering bake sale or coffee morning.


Cycle. Fancy a cycle challenge? Sign up for a place at Ride London with other CAP supporters or take on your own challenge.


Dinner. How about hosting a dinner party where you tell a story of a CAP client’s journey out of debt? If you’re competitive, you could make it a Come Dine With Me style event, where people donate to take part.


Ebay/Etsy. Here’s one for the crafty among you. Crochet, sew, paint, make, and sell your creations online to raise money.


Flip pancakes. Throw your very own Flipping Marvellous Pancake Party.


Games Night. Organise a fun night of board games for your friends.


Hike. Go on a sponsored walk, either by yourself or join an organised walk.


Impart knowledge. Do you have a skill others would like to learn? Offer classes in a foreign language, music or exercise.


Jumble sale. Embrace your inner minimalist and raise money by selling the stuff you want to declutter from your home anyway!


Knit. In exchange for donations to CAP, offer them their very own handmade hat or scarf!


Loose change. Have a jar to collect those copper coins in your purse or wallet, and they’ll soon add up.


Matched giving. Ask a local bank or business to match your fundraising and watch your total go up!


Non-uniform/dress down day. Ask people to donate £1 to come to work in casual clothes. Or go a step further and make it fancy dress!


Obstacle course. Organise a sports competition: mini Olympics, 5-a-side football tournament or an elaborate obstacle course.


Pamper night. Invite people round for an evening of manicures, hot chocolate and facials.


Quiz. Run a pub quiz with a small entry fee and a prize.


Run. Whether you’re a marathon runner or a Couch to 5K, there are lots of opportunities for sponsored runs including the ones here.


Swim. Set up your own challenge or check out some opportunities here.


Theme Day. Invite your colleagues to take part in a Christmas jumper day, a 70s theme day (complete with retro music and flares) or an International day.


Unwanted clothes. Refresh your wardrobe or free up some storage space by organising a clothes swap.


Volunteer. Offer to babysit, garden, walk a neighbour’s dog etc


Without. Give up something like chocolate, alcohol, your phone for a week/month.


 X-Factor. If you’re musically talented (or enthusiastic!) host a talent show or gig.


Year-long challenge. Set yourself a sponsored challenge for the year. Take up a new skill, pledge to get fit.


Zip wire. Sign up to do a zip wire, abseil or sky dive.
