Don't worry, we've got you covered

We've been helping people break free from debt for over 25 years.

We're a charity that provides debt help completely free of charge.

There are many different routes to get out of debt. We'll walk you through all the suitable options based on your circumstances, from which you can choose the best route to becoming debt free.

CAP won’t just support you in resolving your problem debt. We’ll empower you to break free from worry and fear, finding confidence and hope again.

  1. Debt Management Plan

    ?

Many people choose to repay their debts over time, with CAP’s help. We can set up payment arrangements with each of your creditors and distribute the payment that you make each month.

Available in: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales.

  2. Debt Relief Order

    ?

This is for people with a low income and a low level of debt. You pay a fee of £90 to the Insolvency Service, and many debts can be cleared this way. We can help you with the application and submit it for you.

Available in: England, Northern Ireland, Wales.

  3. Bankruptcy

    ?

This is a legal process to clear most of your debts. We can fill out the forms for you to submit, and there’s no need to go to court. In England and Wales, bankruptcy costs £680 per person.

Available in: England, Northern Ireland, Wales.

  4. Individual Voluntary Arrangement

    ?

This is an agreement with your creditors to pay towards your debts for a period of five to six years. After this time, the remainder of your debts will be written off.

Available in: England, Northern Ireland, Wales.

  5. Administration Order

    ?

You can pay back your debts through a plan overseen by the court, which protects you from any further action from your creditors. We can help you apply for an Administration Order if it’s the best route for you.

Available in: England, Northern Ireland, Wales.

  6. Full & Final Settlements

    ?

If you are able to sell any property you own, we can help see your debts settled using the money that this sale releases.

Available in: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales.

In the past when I was all on my own, I thought that there was never any hope and it was always dark. Now I’m living a brighter, bigger, more colourful life.

No, unfortunately we are unable to help with food or fuel. We advise contacting Trussell Trust who may be able to help you find a local food bank or other support.

It can be really worrying when someone you care about is going through a difficult time. We understand that many people will speak to friends and family before they speak to a debt professional. Check if they live within the catchment area of a CAP Debt Centre using the postcode search finder on this page.
