New research: child poverty

Insights into the real challenges families across the UK are facing.

CAP’s recent polling found concerning realities about the financial difficulties parents and carers in the UK are facing:

  • 31% of parents/carers of children under 18 have a deficit budget (in contrast to 17% of UK adults who don’t).

  • 43% of parents/carers of children under 18 have daily anxiety about their finances.

  • 13% of parents/carers of children under 18 have borrowed money for regular food shops in the past year (in contrast to 5% of UK adults who don’t have children/children under 18).

No child should go to bed hungry. No child should grow up in the cold. Parents and carers are doing all they can, but income is not high enough to cover the high costs they face.
