Summer Savers Series: Kids eat for free

Pelena Cosme

Here are ten places where the kids can eat for free or at a low cost this summer.

Feeding children during summer can be costly and here at CAP we understand how difficult it can be especially if children have been entitled to free school meals during the academic year. All of a sudden providing three meals a day again for each child can truly add up so we hope that this latest summer savers blog will equip you with the information to help you plan ahead for your child’s summer meals, should you decide to eat out and take a cooking break.

Top tip for summer savers

Staying in?

family dinner time

The pressure of eating out can be a lot to take, so if that’s not something you think works for your family this summer or you want to do it only a couple of times during holidays, here’s some alternative tips you can use:

  • Try some new baking recipes with a healthy twist.

  • Create a refreshing fruit salad.

  • Make a family dinner together, each taking responsibility for a specific part of the recipe and eat it somewhere different like a local park.

  • Have a movie night and experience with popcorn flavours and homemade cinema-style snacks.

  • Shop in the reduced sections of major supermarkets for spontaneous deals and offers.

So summer saver food doesn’t have to be costly for you and your family this summer. The children can eat free and low cost meals throughout the holidays at some of the nation’s favourite restaurants and cafes, helping you focus on enjoying the weather (hopefully) and quality time with the children.
