Resources for Parliamentarians

As a non-partisan charity dedicated to assisting individuals facing financial hardship, we aim to equip all Parliamentarians with valuable insights into the realities of poverty in the UK. Our goal is to help you make well-informed decisions.

CAP’s Insights about UK poverty

CAP is a charity with nearly 30 years of experience supporting individuals in poverty throughout the UK. We offer practical assistance and hope to those facing financial difficulties through FCA-authorised debt advice, money management courses, life skills groups, and job clubs, all delivered in partnership with local churches across the country. The firsthand experiences of our clients, combined with national polling and research, enable us to provide comprehensive insights into the realities of poverty in the UK.

We are passionate about collaboration and are keen to share the insights that we have to play our role in helping to support changes that can address the drivers of poverty and the support available for people in financial difficulty. We work with Government and Civil Service Departments to help inform their work.

  • We are official referral partners for the DWP, and sit on their stakeholder advisory groups
  • We are members of the Government Fairness group coordinated by HM Treasury and chair a sub group
  • We are members of APPG groups on: Debt and personal finance, Poverty, Universal Credit, Prepayment Meters, Loneliness, Fuel Poverty and Energy Efficiency

We are also dedicated to supporting you in your role as a representative of your local constituency and in your responsibilities within Governmental decisions. This page is designed to assist you in your role as an elected Member of Parliament. If you require additional insights or information, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team.
