CAP's response to the Work and Pensions Committee's call for evidence about pension poverty

Pensioner poverty remains a significant issue in the UK, with many elderly individuals struggling to cover basic living expenses. This can lead to serious health problems, both physical and mental, and places a strain on the NHS and social care system. While the State Pension and Pension Credit provide crucial support, they may not always be sufficient to cover the rising cost of living. Addressing this requires a multi-faceted approach, including increasing the State Pension to cover essential living costs, improving access to and uptake of existing benefits, and implementing effective measures to target support to those most in need.
