What is Debt Awareness Week?
Debt Awareness Week is an annual campaign that shines a spotlight on debt and poverty. This awareness campaign can remove the stigma of debt and deficit budgets, and call for change to address the root causes.
For those struggling to manage their money, Debt Awareness Week can encourage people to seek expert debt help and learn money management skills.
When is Debt Awareness Week 2025?
Debt Awareness Week 2025 will take place on 24–30 March.
How CAP help people in debt
You might have heard of CAP because we’re well known for our free, FCA-authorised debt help service. But, that’s not everything we do. We also run money coaching workshops, job clubs and life skills groups.
Thanks to our generous supporters, we’re able to partner with local churches to bring these services and hope to communities all across the UK.

5. Donate to support our work
Donations from generous supporters mean that we can help more people in need discover life-changing freedom from debt. Our vision is to see transformed lives, thriving churches and an end to UK poverty.
Your continued support is more than a gift—it’s a lifeline for thousands of families.
6. Learn more about poverty in the UK
For those living in poverty, debt is often a necessity rather than a choice. Due to rising costs and low wages, it can be a cycle that’s hard to break.
Learning about poverty in the UK during Debt Awareness Week can reduce the stigma around debt, and highlight the changes needed to address the root causes. You can even read our 2024 client report, ‘Under the rubble of debt and poverty’ to explore how debt and destitution is impacting people in the UK.
7. Fundraise
If you’re ready to join the fight against UK poverty, fundraising for CAP is a brilliant way to get involved in Debt Awareness Week. Whether you decide to set up your own fundraising challenge or look for CAP fundraising events near you, we’d love for you to get involved!
8. Campaign
Debt and poverty robs millions of people of dignity and hope. Together, we can fight back. Will you consider campaigning with us to help us tackle change?
9. Partner with us
At CAP, we partner with churches to help bring our services and hope to local communities. If you’re a church leader, why not consider partnering with us to start transforming the lives of those trapped in debt and poverty?
10. Learn about real-life debt stories
Behind every statistic about debt and poverty is a real person or family. Taking the time to listen and read their stories can help you understand the reality of debt and poverty, and understand why we’re fighting back against it.
