New energy strategy for Northern Ireland

Hanging light bulbs swinging into each other.

CAP has responded to the Department for the Economy’s consultation on a new energy strategy for Northern Ireland. This proposed strategy is founded upon the objective of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In our response we outline why, although an important goal, the move to net-zero cannot leave behind those on low incomes, nor can we expect them to foot the bill for it. We welcomed proposed improvement in communications, particularly the creation of a knowledge hub for consumers seeking help and support for private rented tenants. Technology also presents a great opportunity for improvements in the consumer experience, but must remain accessible and simple for the end user in all cases.
