#NoShameInDebt - CAP backs campaign to abolish the public individual Insolvency Register

White flowers on a tree.

CAP has joined the Financial Wellness Group in calling for an end to the public insolvency register. When someone goes through an IVA, bankruptcy or a Debt Relief Order their personal details are published online in the individual insolvency register and the London Gazette. This is one of the factors that contributes to the stigma of bankruptcy and can also make people a target for marketing. The campaign aims to create discussion about what could replace it, for example a quasi-private register like that created for the Breathing Space scheme, which would only be accessed by people with legitimate interest. You can add your support by signing the petition.
