More than 1,000 CAP supporters call on new PM, Liz Truss, to provide cost of living support

Following the appointment of Liz Truss as the UK’s new Prime Minister (PM) on 5 September, CAP launched a new write to PM campaign. Within two days of the PM being appointed, more than 1,000 CAP supporters had written to Truss calling her to take imminent action to protect those most vulnerable to rising energy prices.

Supporters called on Liz to provide further targeted financial support for low income households, increase Local Housing Allowance to cover and uprate benefits ahead of Winter 2023, and enforce a winter ban on energy companies forcibly switching customers to prepayment meters.
