What is Easter?
For Christians, Easter is more than just chocolate eggs and spring celebrations — it’s the greatest story of hope the world has seen. At the centre of Easter is Jesus’ death and resurrection, a reminder of redemption and new life even in our darkest moments.

For many Christians across the world, Easter is a significant celebration that remembers Jesus’ sacrifice of dying on the cross to wash away our sins. Christians believe that the true meaning of Easter is about Jesus conquering death and coming back to life, so that we might have eternal life with him.
How are lent and Easter related?
Lent reminds Christians of the 40 days leading up to Jesus’ death (starting with Ash Wednesday). Christians take this time to prepare themselves for this celebration and reflect on their life, finding ways to live more like Jesus, either by fasting, praying, donating to a charity like CAP or giving something up for Lent.

What is Palm Sunday?
Palm Sunday is when Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem, and crowds of people placed palm leaves on the road to welcome him. This event symbolised Jesus knowing he was coming to the end of his ministry, and being celebrated as the promised king.

What is Good Friday?
Good Friday is the day Christians remember the death of Jesus on the cross. In the Bible, Jesus was arrested the night of the Last Supper, and put on trial. Despite the fact that they found no fault in him, he was sentenced to death by crucifixion.
Jesus carried his cross to Golgotha, where he was nailed to it, and experienced pain, grief, despair and loneliness, showing how he understands all human emotions and has felt what we go through in life.
At around midday, darkness covered the land, and Jesus breathed his last breath, saying ‘It is finished.’
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What is Easter Sunday?
Following Jesus’ death, his body was laid to rest in a sealed tomb, guarded by Roman soldiers. His followers were heartbroken, experiencing feelings of deep sadness, fear, and uncertainty. But then, on Easter Sunday, the unimaginable happened. Jesus rose from the dead!
He is not here; he has risen!

Why do Christians celebrate Easter?
This miraculous event – the resurrection of Jesus – is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. It offers hope and new life, reminding us that even in the face of despair, there’s always the possibility of resurrection and renewal.
Jesus’ resurrection wasn’t a fleeting moment. He appeared to his disciples on many occasions, showing proof of his victory over death. This powerful message of hope continues to inspire and transform lives today and is why Christians celebrate Easter.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
